What is Camp Hope?

Camp Hope is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) dedicated to helping veterans and their families coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They tackle the issues from multiple angles, understanding that both individual healing and community support are essential to post-enlistment life.

Using a holistic approach to healing for camp attendees, Camp Hope combines peer-to-peer mentoring and group counseling.

The second part of the work Camp Hope does is to raise awareness about the needs of veterans. They bring together governmental organizations, private businesses, community groups, and churches to pool resources dedicated to veterans.

All of Camp Hope’s services are free to veterans and their families, so the focus is always 100% on healing. Because of that, Camp Hope relies on the generosity of others to continue doing their essential work.

How can I support Camp Hope and other charities to help veterans?

There’s a variety of ways to help if you’re ready to get involved with Camp Hope or a similar charity. Even if you’re unable to make financial donations, you can still make positive contributions to your community. It’s easy to get involved:

• Sponsorship: you can sponsor at different levels, from individual veterans to events, projects, or even a Camp Hope chapter. You can cover a veteran’s utility bills for a year or offer in-kind donations and partnerships.
• Volunteer: it’s free and essential for the work Camp Hope does. They accept volunteers for all aspects of the camp, from child care to professional skills and event workers.
• Day of Service: if you’re looking for a corporate team-building event, you can schedule a day of service at Camp Hope for your company.
• Fundraise: when you take part in the camp’s fundraising events, you’re securing funding for their charitable work, even if you’re not in a position to donate money yourself.
